THE ANGELA CARRINGTON AWARDS
The Awards took place at the Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston on May 4th, 2009 in Angela's memory. Proceeds went to MDF, The Bipolar Organisation. Featured singers were Shireen Francis with Annie Dehaney Steven and Roma Thomas selected at this year's Auditions to represent open mic singers in greater London. Also appearing were the singers selected in previous years accompanied by the Bob Stuckey Trio- Yvonne Mallett and Vincent Maiolini (2006), Jo Doolan and Tony Fairfax (2007), Fiona Rowden and Crispin Belcher (2008).
The event was organised and hosted by Brian Shaw. Chris Legee, who organised the Auditions in April, presented the awards to Annie and Roma.
Annie and Roma appeared at the Vortex on Sunday evening, August 30th with the Bob Stuckey Trio, in their own successful gig.
